Warning Signs

When You Need Manual Therapy in Tempe

Lots of our Tempe patients sit in traffic on US-60 or the Loop 101 for an hour a day. That builds up tight hips and a stiff lower back over time. Others come to us after long hours on a laptop near ASU campus. Or they come after a weekend ride around Tempe Town Lake. Manual therapy works out knots and restores motion before small aches turn into chronic pain. We've also seen a rise in heat related muscle cramps during the summer months. Waiting too long lets these problems settle in and get harder to fix. Non-drug options like manual therapy are recommended as a first step for pain relief[1].

Common Cases

Commuter Back Pain

Sitting in traffic on I-10 or Rural Road tightens your lower back. Manual therapy loosens it back up.

ASU Student Strain

Backpacks and hours at a laptop cause neck and shoulder tension. We help students move freely again.

Runner and Cyclist Overuse

Miles around Tempe Town Lake add up. Manual therapy eases IT band and lower back soreness.

Construction Worker Strain

Years of lifting and bending on Mill Avenue job sites wear down shoulders and backs. We help workers stay on the job.

Auto Accident Stiffness

Monsoon season brings more fender benders on Apache Boulevard. Manual therapy helps with whiplash and stiff necks.

Chronic Tension Headaches

Tight neck muscles often cause headaches that won't quit. Loosening them can bring real relief.

Dr. Steven Enriquez is truly exceptional at what he does. I’ve been to chiropractors before, but I have never experienced someone who seemed so genuinely in tune with my body. His level of knowledge, intuition, and attention to detail is remarkable. He knew exactly where the misalignments were, how they were affecting other areas of my body, and everything he explained was completely consistent with what I had already been experiencing.

What impressed me most was how confident and precise he was while still being incredibly attentive. I felt completely safe in his hands and could tell immediately that he has a real gift for understanding the body and knowing exactly what it needs.

After my first adjustment, I felt an immediate difference—not only physically, but emotionally. There was this beautiful, unexpected sense of release afterward, almost like my body had finally let go of tension it had been holding onto for a long time. I slept incredibly that night, and somehow my second adjustment was even better. I walked out feeling lighter, lifted, and like everything in my body was finally moving the way it was supposed to.

Dr. Steve is incredibly talented, knowledgeable, and gifted at what he does. It’s rare to find a practitioner who makes you feel this understood and cared for while also delivering such noticeable results. I’m genuinely so grateful I found him and Global Chiropractic. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Dr. Enriquez and his staff are amazing. I've been going there for a few months now and my back has never felt better! The staff is amazing as well, I had to bring my daughter with me and had her sit up front and they made her feel confiscated comfortable while I was in the back, which made me feel confidant comfortable knowing she was in good hands. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

I’ve been seeing Doctor Steve for more than 15 years, and it’s been a while since I last saw him. He quickly recognized all my concerns and is helping me resolve them. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and professional; he really knows his stuff. If you walk into his office, he’ll tell you where your aches are before you can tell him.

Your Questions

Manual Therapy Questions

Here are answers to what Tempe patients ask us most.

  • How much does manual therapy cost?

New patients start with our $95 special, which covers the exam and first treatment. Costs after that depend on your plan. Most insurance is accepted, and we're upfront about pricing before you start.

  • How long does a session take?

Most manual therapy sessions run 20 to 40 minutes. It depends on how many areas we're treating. We never rush your visit.

  • Should I try this myself or see a pro?

Stretching at home helps, but it won't fix deeper joint or muscle issues. A trained hand knows where to apply pressure and how much. We see patients make things worse trying to self-treat chronic pain.

  • How often should I get manual therapy?

It depends on your pain and your goals. Some patients come weekly at first, then taper off to monthly visits. We'll build a schedule that fits your body and your life.

  • Is this urgent if I just got hurt?

Yes, early care usually means a faster recovery. Waiting lets muscles tighten and compensation patterns set in. We see this often with monsoon season accidents on Apache Boulevard.

  • What signs mean I need manual therapy?

Stiffness, reduced range of motion, and muscle knots are common signs. Headaches from neck tension are another. If pain limits your daily routine, it's time to get checked.

  • Is manual therapy painful?

Most patients feel pressure, not pain, during treatment. Some soreness afterward is normal, like after a workout. It usually fades within a day.
